See Me Cane 1r Production Update + New Podcast Segments!
This is Episode 3 on the See Me Cane Podcast, and we talked about some exciting updates from the See Me Cane world that I just had to share with you. Whether you’re a long-time supporter or just learning about what we’re doing, there’s a lot happening—and I’m thrilled to keep you in the loop.
✅ See Me Cane 1r Production is Moving Forward!
Big news—the parts for the See Me Cane 1r arrived this past Friday! That means we’re officially in the next phase. Starting Tuesday, we’ll begin assembly and testing. We’re running checks on battery life, button function, and flickering issues to make sure everything’s working the way it should. Once internal testing is complete, I’ll personally be putting it through the wringer.
If all goes well (and I’m praying it does!), we’ll be green-lighting manufacturing—with a special twist. These canes will be assembled by visually impaired individuals. It’s not just about making a tool—it’s about empowering a community.

🔧 Shaft Material + Weight Update
In our “See Me Cane Story of the Day” segment, we covered the shaft. The cane is made from a translucent mix of fiberglass and a proprietary material that gives it the strength of fiberglass with the lightness of aluminum.
Right now, it weighs about 14 ounces—just a tad heavier than our 13 oz goal. But we’re working on shaving off at least half an ounce by refining the handle and tip. Every ounce matters when you’re navigating the world blind!
🎙️ New Podcast Segments Just Dropped!
I’m also pumped to announce two brand-new podcast segments that launched in this episode:
• Light Up the Blind Moment
In this segment, I spotlight amazing blind or visually impaired individuals doing incredible things. This week, Evan Starns from Blind Level Tech was our featured guest. He’s doing some awesome work in the accessible tech space, and it was an honor to chat with him.

In this segment, I cover updates, appearances, and anything going on in the See Me Cane world.
This week’s big news: I had the chance to be a guest on The Blind Spot Podcast! I shared more about my vision loss journey and the heart behind the See Me Cane 1r.
